The much needed turntable and vinyl cleaning kit

For this assignment we were tasked with designing a packaging suite for literally anything. As an avid record collector, I chose to go in the direction of designing a line of turntable and vinyl maintenance products. Record collecting can be intimidating at times as it’s a very delicate practice—needed aims to ease the tension a bit and offer a helping hand in the preservation of your vinyl records and audio equipment.

Early Sketches

A key part of this project was observing pre-existing packaging and figuring out how to apply the bells and whistles alongside things like health and safety warnings, barcodes, instructions, etc. That being said, I cannot stress how important it is that you do not drink vinyl or needle cleaning solution or get it in your eyes.

Since this line of products is meant to act as a “helping hand,” I figured it would be important to include tutorials on the packaging. below are three different approaches to including all the necessary information on the packaging.

Rough Drafts

After being able to see the designs on a physical plane, there were a couple things to fix. For one, there wasn’t enough differentiation between the needle cleaning solution and the LP cleaning solution. Because of that, I decided to explore changing the color of the packaging for different items. Also, the readability was a little questionable on the dropper packages, so I went back to the drawing board.
