What’s that down there?

About Me

Hi! I’m Morgan. I graduated from Auburn University in Spring of ‘24 with a BFA in Graphic design.

As an only child in Alabama, I spent most of my time on the computer––designing invitations for events that didn’t exist, curating my Tumblr theme, designing Minecraft texture packs, etc. My excessive time on the computer happened to lead me to graphic design, something I learned about it through a YouTube video of a girl showing off her coursework. My obsession with hoarding makeup packaging should have made it fairly obvious, but I’ve always had an affinity for making things look nice. Whenever I’m designing anything, be it a wireframe or a physical product, I ask myself one question: would I tack this on my wall?

As for my design style, I’m a big advocate for embracing the profane, the weird, the thrifty, the crafty, the wacky, etc. That being said, I am absolutely capable of “reeling it in” and finding design solutions that are

Since I’ve graduated, I’ve been working as a sort of jack-of-all-trades marketing intern at Auburn University Credit Union. I started out working on social media, but since starting in August 2023, I’ve been given the opportunity to work on many exciting projects that have allowed me to hone both my design and marketing skills, all of which you can find here.

Go on ...

Q: What does your employment situation look like?

A: As much as I enjoy my internship at Auburn University Credit Union, I am taking the next step in my professional career and I am #readytowork (as the banner around my profile photo says on LinkedIn).

Q: Are you willing to relocate?

A: Yes! Very much so. I’m actively seeking out jobs in Atlanta, but I’m open to anything, including remote work.

Q: What do you bring to the table?

A: Lots! I am skilled in Ps, Id, Ai, Pr, Ae, and Lr. As for things that aren’t owned by Adobe, I have a lot of experience working in Figma as well as UX/UI research. I also have a lot of experience in writing lively and witty copy, and I've been illustrating for as long as I can remember.

I’m excellent at working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines—in fact that’s when I really shine. In the workplace, I’m a big proponent of organization, communication, and documentation.

As for my less practical skills, I can screen-print and knit, and I would love to get into needlepoint.

Q: What area of design interests you most?

A: I know it’s a bit contradictory, but it’s a tie between UX/UI and merch design! The UX/UI bit scratches the logical part of my brain as I’m a huge problem solver, but I also genuinely enjoy the process of thoroughly researching how users interact with websites and apps, and understanding how to improve everyones experiences.

My love for merch design was born out of my crafty upbringing and my love for things that Nobody Has Ever Heard Of. The first time I felt cool was in seventh grade when I wore a The 1975 shirt to school, and even though nobody really cared. I felt even cooler when I started wearing things that I embroidered, knitted, painted, screen-printed, sewed, etc.

Q: Where can I find you?

A: On most days, my apartment! Kidding. My socials are linked in the footer.

Fun Facts

  • I am obsessed with hbo GIRLS. It is my favorite show of all time, I’ve rewatched it probably into the triple digits, I designed and 3D printed a title card keychain in my advanced interactive media course, knitted a sweater, and created a typographics II project based on dialogue from the show. I also like BBC Sherlock and Doctor Who.

  • I own more than 20+ jackets.

  • If I could have any superpower, I would control the weather so I could wear my 20+ jackets. However, if my controlling the weather did have an impact on the climate at large, I would absolutely work with climate experts to find a solution that benefits everyone. I’ve also thought really hard about it and I would not give in to lobbyists.
